Bite-Size Manga Reviews: My Happy Marriage, No Longer Heroine, and More

My Happy Marriage Vol. 01

My Happy Marriage Vol. 1

Original Concept: Akumi Agitogi
Art: Rito Kohsaka
Character Design: Tsukiho Tsukioka
Publisher: Square Enix
Price: 12.99

Probably the Best New Series of the Week. My Happy Marriage is very tropey but it executes them well. My wife basically guessed everything about the story as I described it to her but she still read it and loved it. It’s a romance between a cinderella-like noble girl who is basically disowned by her family and forced to become engaged to a noble man who has a reputation for being cold and cruel and whose engagements never last a week.

I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability Vol. 1

Art by: Yosuke Kokuzawa
Story by: Kenkyo Na Circle
Character Design By: Meru
Publisher: Kodansha

The 7th Prince is another is a growing trend of manga that feature a reincarnated child who uses his previous knowledge to become completely OP at a ridiculous age. This one only really stands above the others because I am a fan of the art style and it benefits from not taking itself to seriously. Its over the top but it has fun with it.

No Longer Heroine Vol. 01

No Longer Heroine Vol. 1

Mangaka: Momoko Koda
Publisher: Yen Press
Price: 13.00

No Longer Heroine takes a interesting spin on the classic shojo story. Our protag is the childhood friend of the Male Lead and she is convinced that they are destined to be together. That she is the Heroine of the story. But after he gets his first serious girlfriend our Protag’s world begins to unravel as she comes to terms with the fact that she is No Longer the Heroine. For the first 2/3 of the manga the Protag was super unlikeable I could not stand her but as she begins to change near the end you see that her staring unlikable just leaves a lot of room for growth.
